Casey was born in West Monroe, Louisiana in 1986. He attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2010. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Spanish. During his time at ULM, he was a member of the Warhawk baseball team and was named as the ULM Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2010. He was also a member of the Sigma Tau Delta and Sigma Delta Pi honor societies and the recipient of the L. Marvin McKneely English Scholarship.

Casey attended law school at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2014. While at LSU, Casey was a member of the Louisiana Law Review, and he authored and published Predictive Coding: Taking the Devil Out of the Details, 74 La. L. Rev. 612, which details emerging methods of electronic discovery. He also served as a teaching assistant for Federal Civil Procedure.

Casey clerked with Hudson, Potts & Bernstein during law school, and, upon graduation from LSU, he moved back to Monroe and began practicing with the firm in 2014 as an associate.
