Born in Monroe, Louisiana, in 1984, Larry McCarty graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2007. Larry then attended law school at Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi, where he graduated cum laude in 2011. During law school, Larry served on Law Review and the Moot Court Board, where he was chair of the Mississippi Moot Court Championship and participated in several competitions, including the National Appellate Advocacy Competition and the National Health Law Moot Court Competition. He was also a legal extern for the United States Attorney’s Office, Civil Division, and for the Honorable George C. Carlson, Jr., Presiding Justice on the Mississippi Supreme Court.

After graduating law school, Larry clerked for the Honorable Jess H. Dickinson, Presiding Justice on the Mississippi Supreme Court, after which he practiced law at a regional law firm in Jackson, Mississippi. For several years, while in Mississippi, Larry taught Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy classes at Mississippi College School of Law and also coached several Moot Court competition teams. Larry’s practice in Mississippi primarily involved commercial litigation and commercial transactions, as well as health care law and gaming law. In 2015, he was named a Mid-South Super Lawyers – Rising Star.

Larry moved back home to Monroe, Louisiana, in January of 2016 and began practicing law with Hudson, Potts & Bernstein, L.L.P. His practice focuses on all areas of litigation, including insurance and commercial litigation, medical malpractice defense, and personal-injury claims. He will also continue representing clients in commercial transaction and general litigation matters in Mississippi. Larry is licensed to practice law in Louisiana state and federal courts, Mississippi state and federal courts, and Tennessee state courts, as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
